GONE
Writing
Written in Wasaga Beach, a few hours after my Grandma Kay passed away. Read at her funeral by myself.
Gone
It seems to be so unfair,
When one you love is gone,
Sadness in your soul and in the air,
The uncaring world moves right along.
It seems the universe should stop and share,
Oh you poor thing!,
It’s the grief that you bear,
Around your heart, an iron ring.
The day grows a little dark,
The rain belongs in this place,
For on the earth there’s one less spark,
But good memories bring you grace.
Take the time to stop and smile,
Remembering good times and bad you spent,
Those are what make life worthwhile,
Wherever you go, wherever they went.
On your attitude all depends,
They wouldn’t want you sad,
Experiences shared with family and friends,
They surely would be glad.
Now joy doesn’t seem wrong,
Laugh and cry together share a memory or a song,
The road behind enjoyed for so long,
This incredible world moves right along.
